In 1999 the Nebraska Department of Transportation designated Highway 12 as the  Outlaw Trail.  An Outlaw Trail Association was formed with all the towns on the  231 mile trail from South Sioux City to    Valentine.
A new brochure and website offer travelers many ideas for things to do and see along the byway.  Visit www.nebraskaoutlawtrail.org or call Northeast NE RC&D at 402-582-4866 for a brochure.

The Outlaw Trail wines were developed by Nissen Wine and the Nebraska Outlaw Trail Association to promote tourism and publicity for the Nebraska Outlaw Trail and its surrounding area.  Nissen Wine, being located on the Outlaw Trail, is a natural partner for this endeavor.  All of the grapes used for these wines are grown in two vineyards located on the Outlaw Trail.  In the spring of 2003 Nissen Wine planted the first grapes in an eight acre vineyard and more followed each year.  A four acre vineyard was started in 2006 and finished the spring of 2007. The four outlaws chosen for the these wines have crossed or probably crossed the hills where the grapes are now growing.  A short story about  the outlaw is included on the label.

There are presently four wines in the Outlaw Trail series.  A  description of each is listed below.  Please call 402-254-3426 for inquiries or wholesale prices and check the local retail off-sale establishments for availability.
